PLK - The Programmer PolyLingual Keyboard 6.0

PLK is the extended US keyboard able to generate all the characters of the English, Slovak, Czech, German and Hungarian languages. PLK eliminates the necessity to switch between US and SK (CZ, GE, HU) keyboards, keeps standard US keyboard layout and uses no dead keys. The PLK layout is different from the standard typewriter-like SK, CZ, GE, HU keyboard layouts.

Typing with PLK is natural and therefore easy to learn. The accented and other additional characters are typed using alternate character set, e.g.:

The key combinations with the Caps key are the most practical for everyday typing of all the characters of alternate set. To use them, the Caps key must be remapped to AltGr key. In the following text the Caps combinations are used.

All basic characters, accented characters and character sequences (ligatures) generated by PLK are on the following picture. The PLK layout is intuitive, logical and therefore easy to remember:

Because typing with the PLK is fast and natural, it is very easy to accustom to it. After a few weeks of continuous usage of the PLK, it is rather painful if one has to use a PC without the PLK. Therefore it is recommended to start to use the PLK only when its usage is guaranteed for long continuous time.
